AC Milan struck down by Covid outbreak ahead of tonight’s Juventus game as Rade Krunic and Ante Rebic test positive… with game already in doubt due to multiple cases in Andrea Pirlo’s side and authorities threatening to block them from travelling

  • AC Milan revealed Rade Krunic and Ante Rebic have tested positive for Covid-19
  • Both Rebic and Krunic are asymptomatic and currently self-isolating at home
  • The news comes shortly after Alex Sandro and Juan Cuadrado tested positive
  • All four players will miss out on AC Milan clash with Juventus this evening

AC Milan have revealed that Rade Krunic and Ante Rebic have tested positive for coronavirus ahead of tonight’s fixture against Juventus.

The news comes just hours after Juventus announced that both Alex Sandro and Juan Cuadrado had been ruled out after also contracting Covid-19.

The statement from AC Milan confirms that both Krunic and Rebic are asymptomatic and currently self-isolating at home.

After Krunic and Rebic returned a positive result from their swab tests on Tuesday, they under went a second test today. The results are not yet known.

The club revealed that all other Milan players have returned a negative test and will be available for their title showdown with Juventus.

‘The asymptomatic players remained in isolation at home where a second control swab was taken today. The health authorities were promptly informed,’ a club statement read.

‘All team members were subjected to a further test today with negative results.’

However, the news of additional positive cases could throw this evening’s game into further doubt after authorities already threatened to cancel the fixture after Sandro and Cuadrado’s results.

Italian health authorities revealed that they would prevent Juventus from travelling to the game if there was evidence of an uncontrolled outbreak within Pirlo’s side.

Given that Juventus and AC Milan have both seen players contract the virus, local authorities may look to intervene.

Should the game go ahead as planned, Krunic and Rebic’s absence will come as a blow to Stefano Pioli.

The Serie A leaders will also be without suspended midfielder Sandro Tonali and injured players Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Ismael Bennacer, Alexis Saelemaekers and Matteo Gabbia.

Juventus ‘will allow Paulo Dybala to LEAVE if he doesn’t sign a new contract by the end of the season’ with the Argentine striker stalling over his huge £9m offer in showdown talks with the Italian giants

  • Juventus will allow Paulo Dybala to leave if he doesn’t sign a contract extension
  • The Serie A champions are preparing to offer the Argentinian a new deal
  • Attacker Dybala declined a lucrative offer from the Old Lady back in the summer
  • It is believed that Juve will offer another £1.9million-per-year to the 27-year-old

Juventus will allow Paulo Dybala to leave the club this summer if he doesn’t sign a new contract extension.

The Serie A champions are preparing to offer the Argentinian an extension on his current contract, worth £6.2million-a-year, thats runs out in June 2022.

Juventus offered Dybala a very lucrative deal back in the summer of 2019, but he declined as his future at the club was cast into doubt.

And Tuttosport have reported that the Old Lady are not willing to get into a haggling back-and-forth with the attacker, and will allow him to leave if he does not sign their final offer.

It is believed that Juve will offer another £1.9million-per-year to the 27-year-old in a deal that would make him the join second highest earner at the club with Matthijs de Ligt.

Unsurprisingly, talisman Cristiano Ronaldo is the highest paid player at the club.

According to the reports in Italy, Dybala and his representatives will meet with Juventus this month to discuss his future and an exit before the end of this season is still not off the cards.

He is in the midst of his fifth season at the Allianz Stadium after his £40million move from Palermo in 2015. Dybala has scored 97 goals for the club in 240 appearances.

Dybala came close to leaving Turin at the start of last season and was heavily linked with a move to Manchester United and Tottenham, but a Premier League switch broke down and he pledged his allegiance to the club.

Juventus are also said to be considering a January move for former Southampton forward Graziano Pelle as they look to bolster their attacking options.

Andrea Pirlo’s team are well off the pace in Serie A this season, ringing in the New Year in a lowly sixth place and some 10 points adrift of unbeaten leaders AC Milan.

They have scored fewer goals than all the teams around them in the table with Cristiano Ronaldo and Alvaro Morata supplying the vast majority of them.

Inter Milan 6-2 Crotone: Lautaro Martinez blasts a hat-trick and Romelu Lukaku also finds the net as Antonio Conte’s side climb top of Serie A (for a few hours at least)

  • Inter Milan went top of Serie A for a brief time at least with thrashing of Crotone
  • Lautaro Martinez scored a hat-trick at the San Siro as they leapfrogged AC Milan
  • Their city rivals have the chance to respond when they play at Benevento
  • Crotone actually took the lead and equalised at 2-2 but Inter roared forwards
  • Romelu Lukaku and Achraf Hakimi also scored in eighth straight league win

Inter Milan climbed top of Serie A for a few hours at least with a 6-2 thrashing of Crotone as Lautaro Martinez plundered a hat-trick.

Antonio Conte’s side fell behind early on and Crotone levelled at 2-2 but Inter blew them away in the second-half with Romelu Lukaku and Achraf Hakimi also on target.

The emphatic result at San Siro was an eighth straight win in the league and carries them above AC Milan before their city rivals’ trip to Benevento later on Sunday.

Crotone are in the bottom three of the division but took a shock 12th-minute lead through Niccolo Zanellato.

However, Lukaku sent strike partner Martinez through on goal to equalise with an unstoppable drive from the edge of the area eight minutes later before an own goal from Luca Marrone put Inter in front.

But Crotone rallied and Arkadiusz Reca was fouled in the box for a penalty, confirmed by referee Gianluca Aureliano after a VAR check, that Vladimir Golemic sent past Samir Handanovic.

Crotone’s resistance had been strong but it was a matter of time after the break until Inter cut through them.

In the 57th minute Marcelo Brozovic showed good vision to find Martinez inside the box and his composed finish picked out the top corner for 3-2.

Lukaku produced a clinical finish of his own to extend the lead seven minutes later and kill off any chance of a Crotone fightback.

Martinez completed his first Inter hat-trick 12 minutes from time, nodding home from close range after the ball rebounded in his direction.

And Hakimi put the icing on the cake with a late sixth to take Inter to 36 points, two ahead of Milan. Crotone have still won just twice this season.

This was the first time in over eight years that all 10 Serie A matches will be played on the same Sunday and so Inter had an excellent opportunity to steal a march on their title rivals.

But they made heavy weather of it in the first half and could have conceded more than the two they did.

But the link up play between Lukaku and Martinez proved too strong for the Crotone defence, with the Belgian scoring his 50th goal for Inter in all competitions since his move from Manchester United.
