Arsenal ‘to turn their attention to Dayot Upamecano’ but RB Leipzig’s £50m valuation is stumbling block
- Arsenal are interested in signing RB Leipzig’s young defender Dayot Upamecano
- However, the £50million price-tag could prove to be a major stumbling block
- The Gunners have also kept tabs on Juventus centre-back Daniele Rugani
Arsenal are considering a late move for RB Leipzig starlet Dayot Upamecano as Unai Emery looks to fix his leaky back-line – but are put off by his huge £50million price-tag.
The Gunners have also been linked with a loan move for Juventus defender Daniele Rugani but would rather bring him in permanently.
According to The Mirror, talks with Juve have stalled and the north Londoners have now turned their attentions to Upamecano but are unwilling to fork out £50m for the Frenchman – especially since they’ve just signed Nicolas Pepe for a club-record fee of £72m.

Upamecano has impressed since joining Leipzig from sister club Red Bull Salzburg in 2017 where he has made 75 appearances for the Bundesliga side.
The Gunners are keen on improving their defence after captain Laurent Koscielny rejected the chance to stay at the club for the upcoming season as he continues to force through a move back to Ligue 1.
Sportsmail understands Gunners chiefs have tried to broker peace talks with the defender to resolve the situation which essentially saw Koscielny go on strike.
But Koscielny has made it crystal clear he wants to leave the club this summer, preferably for a return to his native France and that discussions with a view to persuading him to stay would be pointless.

Laurent Koscielny is set to leave Arsenal before the transfer window shuts on Thursday
It means the Gunners will sanction their skipper’s exit before Thursday’s transfer deadline provided they receive a suitable offer.
Barcelona’s Samuel Umtiti has also been heavily linked with a move to the Emirates – but the cost of signing the France international could prove prohibitive.
Celtic left-back Kieran Tierney remains a target for Arsenal, but the club are now prioritising a centre-back meaning the club could revisit the deal in January.
