NAC Breda failed to regain the lead in the first division on Monday-evening in the home game with De Graafschap. De Graafschap won 2-1 and because of that victory the NAC passed on goal difference in the rankings.
Daryl van Mieghem, who was back in base for the Doetinchemmers for the first time after a fractured leg, livened up his return with a quick score. Already in the first minute he hit the target with a swipe, after a quick failure.
Shortly before the break, Javier Vet made it 0-2 with a ball in the intersection. Just after that second goal, NAC captain Arno Verschueren also got red after a rash action.
After half time NAC was stronger than De Graafschap with ten men and the team did a bit of a shot thanks to a change in direction by Huseyin Dogan.
The final offensive of NAC then offered some opportunities, but not the equalizer. It marked the first defeat of the season for the team from Breda.
NAC is now third with two points less than the leader Cambuur, which won 5-1 against Top Oss on Friday.
Good news Ajax
At Jong Ajax, which beat Jong Utrecht 4-0, Hassane Bandé made his comeback on the football field. The player was injured last July in a friendly game with Anderlecht 2. He broke his left calf leg and tore the inner tube off his ankle.
On Monday evening he played an official game for the first time in 589 days; on March 11, he last played for his then club KV Mechelen.
