David Neres has extended his Ajax contract after reports suggested Manchester United had seen a £55million bid rejected for the winger.
Brazilian outlet UOL had claimed that the Red Devils had made an eleventh-hour bid for the 22-year-old, who impressed impressed alongside a host of youngsters during Ajax’s run to the semi-finals of the Champions League last season.
But the Dutch champions announced on Wednesday that Neres had in fact extended his contract at the club until 2023.

Neres caught the eye in an Ajax side that confounded all expectations by outclassing Europe’s elite to reach the Champions League semi-finals.
His form, which saw the Sao Paulo-born winger score 12 goals from 50 appearances in all competitions last term, led to reported interest from several clubs including Manchester United.
Team-mates Frenkie de Jong and Matthijs de Ligt have already jumped ship following Ajax’s double-winning campaign, joining Barcelona and Juventus in deals worth £64m and £67.8m respectively.
Neres however, who was also the subject of reported interest from Everton, failed to attract a bid that would force Ajax’s hand this summer.
