DEADLINE DAY: Man City want Akanji and Man United wantaway Cristiano Ronaldo waits for late offers


This summer’s record-breaking transfer window comes to a close on Thursday September 1 at 11pm, with several teams still eyeing up important moves ahead of a long and demanding season.

It was reported last week that Premier League clubs had broken the all-time spending record for transfers within one window, splashing over £1.5billion on new players. 

Sportsmail has taken a look at the players clubs want in and out ahead of the summer deadline.

ARSENAL

STILL WANT IN: Cover in centre midfield and a winger if the price is right. Danilo at Palmeiras, Leicester’s Youri Tielemans and Villa’s Douglas Luiz have all been discussed. Meanwhile, wingers Pedro Neto at Wolves and Mykhaylo Mudryk at Shakhtar Donetsk have been deemed too expensive.

STILL WANT OUT: Ainsley Maitland-Niles is talking to Southampton about a possible loan move and Newcastle and West Ham are also keen. Hector Bellerin wants his contract cancelled so he can join Barcelona and he has an offer from Sassuolo. Fulham are interested in Cedric Soares, 31.

ASTON VILLA

STILL WANT IN: A centre back, midfielder and forward. They are interested in Craig Dawson at West Ham and Jan Bednarek at Southampton and yesterday made a push to sign Chelsea’s Conor Gallagher.

STILL WANT OUT: They are open to offers for Marvelous Nakamba and Morgan Sanson. Luiz has a number of clubs showing late interest in him.

BOURNEMOUTH

STILL WANT IN: Forward, midfielder and centre back. Southampton’s Jack Stephens is poised to join on loan while they have also asked about Rennes’ Loic Bade.

STILL WANT OUT: Nobody as the squad will be assessed by the new manager.

BRENTFORD

STILL WANT IN: Mudryk from Shakhtar who has also attracted enquiries from Arsenal and Everton. He would cost around £25million.

STILL WANT OUT: Nobody.

BRIGHTON

STILL WANT IN: Billy Gilmour from Chelsea on a permanent deal. They have asked about a loan for striker Christian Kouame from Fiorentina and are close to adding Argentine midfielder Facundo Buonanotte, 17, from Rosario.

STILL WANT OUT: Nobody.

CHELSEA

STILL WANT IN: Tabled a £44m offer for Ajax anchorman Edson Alvarez last night. Barcelona rejected an offer of £12m plus Marcos Alonso for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. Milan’s Rafael Leao, Palace’s Wilfried Zaha and Villa’s Douglas Luiz are all admired.

STILL WANT OUT: Baba Rahman has joined Reading on loan and Xavier Simons is joining Hull. Injuries may stop Gallagher’s loan departure. Chelsea have rebuffed a late request from Ajax to take Hakim Ziyech on loan.

CRYSTAL PALACE

STILL WANT IN: A midfielder. Palace have been asking for Gallagher from Chelsea and Boubakary Soumare from Leicester, but both deals are difficult. Lyon’s Houssem Aouar is another possibility.

STILL WANT OUT: Zaha will be offered a new contract if he doesn’t leave.

EVERTON

STILL WANT IN: Midfielders Idrissa Gueye from Paris Saint-Germain while a £9m deal, rising to £15.5m, for Manchester United’s James Garner will be confirmed today. Ajax midfielder Mohammed Kudus has refused to train to push through a move to Goodison Park. Meanwhile, talks are ongoing for a forward such as Joao Pedro at Watford, Samuel Chukwueze of Villarreal, Wolves’ Hwang Hee-Chan, Ben Brereton Diaz at Blackburn and Chelsea’s Armando Broja.

STILL WANT OUT: Allan is wanted at Monza and Andre Gomes could also leave the club. Anthony Gordon should stay as Chelsea are unwilling to offer above £40m.

FULHAM

STILL WANT IN: A deal for Justin Kluivert from Roma has collapsed over work permit issues. Layvin Kurzawa is joining from PSG, while talks are on with Marseille for striker Bamba Dieng. Espanyol’s Raul de Tomas is another possible option.

STILL WANT OUT: Full back Joe Bryan has joined Nice on loan.

LEEDS UNITED

STILL WANT IN: A forward and left back. PSV Eindhoven’s Cody Gakpo is under discussion. Rangers’ Ryan Kent is another option. Philadelphia Union left back Kai Wagner is waiting for a call, but Leeds’ focus is on a forward now.

STILL WANT OUT: Tottenham want Dan James on loan with an option to buy, but the offer doesn’t suit Leeds at this stage. Midfielder Alfie McCalmont is likely to go out on loan.

LEICESTER CITY

STILL WANT IN: A £15m deal for Belgian defender Wout Faes from Reims is being finalised while talks are ongoing with Atalanta for ex-Chelsea winger Jeremie Boga.

STILL WANT OUT: Wesley Fofana’s £69.5m sale to Chelsea has been confirmed, Youri Tielemans could also leave for £25m.

LIVERPOOL

STILL WANT IN: The Reds have been looking for a midfielder such as Konrad Laimer at RB Leipzig but he is joining Bayern next summer. Borussia Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham is lined up for next summer if nobody else arrives.

STILL WANT OUT: Defender Sepp van den Berg has joined Schalke and left back Owen Beck, 20, is off to Bolton

STILL WANT IN: Defender Manuel Akanji is signing from Borussia Dortmund for £17m as City need cover for the injured Nathan Ake and Aymeric Laporte.

STILL WANT OUT: Southampton are signing City left back Juan Larios and winger Sam Edozie, while Tottenham are trying to land teenage winger Adedire Mebude. Defender Luke Mbete is joining Huddersfield on loan.

MANCHESTER UNITED

STILL WANT IN: United may look to add cover at right back should a suitable bid arrive for Aaron Wan-Bissaka, but the Red Devils are not keen to sell him at this stage. Martin Dubravka will today join from Newcastle.

STILL WANT OUT: Sam Surridge is wanted by Middlesbrough but is likely to stay at Forest.

SOUTHAMPTON

STILL WANT IN: The Saints have a loan deal in place for Arsenal’s Maitland-Niles and are close to the double signing of City left back Larios and winger Edozie. They have asked about Marseille centre back Duje Caleta-Car and are in talks with PSV for the £25m-rated Gakpo, 23.

STILL WANT OUT: Stephens and Bednarek are attracting a lot of interest from other Premier League sides. Goalkeeper Mateusz Lis is in talks to join Troyes and Oriol Romeu is heading for Girona. Yan Valery is talking to French club Angers.

TOTTENHAM

STILL WANT IN: A winger like James from Leeds on an initial loan and also 18-year-old Manchester City winger Mebude.

STILL WANT OUT: Bryan Gil has an offer from Valencia. Japhet Tanganga may stay despite interest from Nottingham Forest and AC Milan.

STILL WANT IN: Striker Sasa Kalajdzic has joined for £15.4m plus add-ons from German club Stuttgart. Talks are ongoing with West Ham over a £5.3m deal for the 32-year-old Dawson.

STILL WANT OUT: Leander Dendoncker saw a move to Everton collapse and still wants to leave. They have rebuffed Leeds’ offer for South Korean striker Hwang Hee-Chan.
