Sessegnon joined Spurs from Fulham last summer for £25m but has struggled for minutes
Sessegnon is believed to have attracted no shortage of attention – with Southampton, Brighton, Celtic, Hertha Berlin and RB Leipzig all making enquiries this summer.
Bundesliga outfit Hoffenheim have now won the race for his signature, however.
Barcelona and Ajax were also monitoring Sessegnon’s situation but needed to offload players before making a move.
Sessegnon is understood to have attracted plenty of interest from a number of European clubs
The full-back joined Tottenham from Fulham in a £25m switch but struggled for regular match action last season, having made just 12 appearances across all competitions.
He told Hoffenheim’s in-house media channel: ‘I’m very excited to get going. It’s a club that produces young players into big players in one of the most competitive leagues in the world. I’m very happy to be here.
‘They can expect a lot of energy on the left side. Up and down, creating goals, scoring goals, being aggressive off the ball. I want to be energetic and use my pace as well.’
The 20-year-old had been included in just one matchday squad by Jose Mourinho this season
Jose Mourinho has included Sessegnon in a matchday squad just once this season.
Spurs are understood to view the talented defender as a long-term signing, however, and insisted that the deal would be a simple loan with no option or obligation to buy.
Sessegnon will develop this campaign under highly-rated coach Sebastian Hoeness in the German top flight and will also experience a taste of Europa League football.
