Manchester United target Erling Haaland ‘can force Borussia Dortmund to sell him in 2022 due to secret clause in his contract’
- Manchester United could get the chance to sign target Erling Haaland in 2022
- United lost out on the Norwegian prodigy to Borussia Dortmund this month
- But a clause in his contract allows him to force Dortmund to sell him in 2022
- That would allow United and other keen clubs to lure him away from Germany
Manchester United have been given renewed hope that they could one day sign Erling Haaland due to a secret clause in his contract with Borussia Dortmund.
The Norwegian prodigy finally brought speculation over his future to an end when he signed for the Bundesliga giants in the January transfer window.
It came as a big blow for United, after they pursued the former Red Bull Salzburg forward for months and even sent manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to hold talks with him.

The 19-year-old agreed terms on a four-and-a-half-year-contract with Dortmund when he completed his £18million move at the start of January but that has not ruled out a move to United in the future.
That is because, according to German newspaper BILD, Haaland’s contract with Dortmund contains a clause that allows him to force the club to sell him two years before his deal expires in 2024.
Such a clause would allow United, or other interested parties like Real Madrid, Juventus and Barcelona, to make an offer for him in 2022.
Haaland revealed this week that he joined Dortmund because he was ‘triggered’ by the club’s plea to sign him.
‘The club said directly: “we need you up front. We like your playing style and we want to have you here”,’ Haaland told BVB.TV, via Bundesliga.com.
‘I liked how they spoke to me then and that’s what triggered me. That’s when I felt that me and Dortmund was a good match.’

Haaland, who has scored 28 goals in 22 games this season, was asked about his style of play and he admitted he prefers the most direct route to goal.
‘I’m quite a direct player – if I could choose, I’d just go straight towards the goal and score,’ he said.
‘That’s what I do best. I’m a guy who works hard, who loves scoring goals and who loves to play football.
‘I also want people to see what kind of player I am. I don’t want to talk too much; I want people to see how I am… and then they will see!’
